National Insurance Company Ltd. is a public sector general (non-life) insurer headquartered in Kolkata. It traces its origins to 1906, was nationalized in 1972, and is one of India’s four state-owned general insurers. It offers motor, health, fire, marine, engineering, and agriculture insurance through branches across the country.

Legal Vacancies
20 posts (tentative): UR 10, OBC 5, SC 2, ST 1, EWS 2. You can apply for only one discipline.
Eligibility
- A graduate or postgraduate law degree with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwBD), with the result declared on or before 1 October 2026.
- Age 21 to 30 years on 1 October 2026 (born between 2 October 1996 and 1 October 2005), with relaxations for SC/ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), PwBD, and others.
Selection Process
- Phase I (online): English, Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude, 100 marks, 60 minutes.
- Phase II (online): 250-mark objective test, including a 50-mark test on law, plus a 30-mark descriptive English test that is qualifying only.
- Interview: the final score is 80% Mains and 20% interview.
Each wrong answer carries a penalty of one-fourth of its marks.
Pay and Conditions
- Starting basic pay is Rs. 82,485, roughly Rs. 1.14 lakh per month in metro cities.
- One year of probation, with the non-life licentiate exam to be passed for confirmation.
- A four-year service bond and a minimum five-year stay at the first posting, which can be anywhere in India.
